Rusling Daniel Blackburn, 73, of Westminster, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Born June 14, 1939, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Clarence and Anna Faustman Blackburn.

He was a 1957 graduate of Milford Mill High School and graduated in 1964 from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering.

He worked from 1964 to 1983 with the B&O Railroad (Chessie System) in real estate and industrial development. From 1983 to present he worked in real estate in the Carroll County area. For many years he owned and operated the family farm.

Surviving are sons Daniel L. and Kyle D. Blackburn, both of Westminster, and Bruce M. Blackburn, of Chestertown; a daughter, Meghan J. Reynolds, of Amelia, Va.; a sister, Carole Leigh Grill, of Eldersburg; a companion, Patricia Groth, of Hampstead; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at McDaniel College, "Big Baker" Memorial Chapel, 2 College Hill, Westminster, with the Rev. Paul Leatherman officiating. Interment will be private.
