Ruth Agnes Allison, 68, of Sykesville, died Friday, July 27, 2012, at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Born in Baltimore, she was the youngest child of the late Aaron and Pearl Shepherd. She was the wife of Herb Allison.

She had worked for more than 20 years for the Carroll County Board of Education and retired in 2006. She was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Gamber.

She enjoyed meeting and talking with others, spending time with her family and tending her garden. Always an advocate for learning, she donated her body to science.

Surviving, in addition to her husband are children Keith Allison and wife Maura McHale-Allison, of New Windsor, Lisa Gonder and husband Bob, of Westminster, Laura Allison-Slacum and husband Don VanValkenburg, of Roswell, Ga., and Heather Allison and husband Ali Daneshvar; grandchildren Christopher, Caleb and Hannah Slacum, Emma and Ben Gonder, Seda and Manu Daneshvar; and brother and sister-in-law Richard and Hilda Shepherd, of Perry Hall.

She was predeceased by brothers Ronald and Robert Shepherd.

A memorial service will be held at noon Aug. 25, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 3939 Gamber Road, Finksburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Calvary UMC, 3939 Gamber Road, Finksburg, MD 21048.
