Ruth Ellen Leppo, 75, of Westminster, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at the Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center following an extended illness.

Born April 18, 1938, in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Ruth Little Freyman. She was the wife of Sam R. Leppo, who died in 1999.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a substitute teacher for many years at Westminster and Elmer Wolfe elementary schools. She was a member of the Westminster United Methodist Church and the Union Bridge Lions Club. She enjoyed being a recent resident of Westminster Ridge Senior Living Community. She was an avid NASCAR and Baltimore Ravens fan, and enjoyed shopping.

Surviving are a daughter, Tammy Foster, of Louisiana; son Sam R. Leppo II and wife Eleni, of Westminster; brothers Floyd Freyman and wife Cherry, and Dale Freyman and wife Linda, both of Westminster; grandchildren David and Lauren Foster, of Louisiana, and Sam Leppo III, Maria and Abigail Leppo, all of Westminster; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings Gilda Trish, Francis, Charles "Bud," and Klarn Freyman.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westminster United Methodist Church, 162 E. Main St., Westminster, with the Rev. Shari McCourt officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Union Bridge.
