Ruth Magin Wachter, 87, of New Oxford, Pa., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Cross Keys Village, The Brethren Home Community.

Born Nov. 21, 1925, in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma Currens Magin. She was the wife of Lt. Col. (retired) Frank J. Wachter Jr., her husband of 65 years.

She was a graduate of Westminster High School and attended Western Maryland College. She was a clerical worker for Baltimore Gas and Electric Company in Westminster, and then began traveling with her husband during his years in the Army.

She was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Westminster and later became a member of Faith Community of Brethren Home Community for 23 years.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are nephews William R. Landy and wife Barbara J., of Linwood, and Jeffrey A. Landy and companion Julie Ludwig, of Henderson Harbor, N.Y.; great-nephews Ryan C. Landy, of Urbana, and Michael W. Landy, of Linwood; and cousin Betti Beard and companion Dan Cool, of Hanover, Pa.

She was predeceased by a stepmother, Myrtle Dryden Magin; a sister, Elizabeth Magin Landy; and a brother-in-law, William C. Landy.

Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be held at Westminster Cemetery.
