Ruth Victoria Mellema, 69, of Union Bridge, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at home.

Born June 17, 1944, in Waynesboro, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence S. Guyer Sr. and Edna G. Brenneman Guyer. She was the wife of Clyde Clayton Mellema, who died in 2012.

She attended Waynesboro area schools and in her early life worked at local canning factories and a sod farm. She worked for many years in housekeeping at Grace Brethren Home and in private homes. She enjoyed spending time with her dog, Rusty, flea market shopping and collecting knick-knacks. She liked classic country music, especially Charlie Pride, and was a member of the Charlie Pride Fan Club.

Surviving are brothers Charles L. Guyer, of Waynesboro, Roy L. Guyer, of York, Pa., and Paul L. Guyer, of New Mexico; a sister, Rosie M. Baer, of Waynesboro; a number of nieces and nephews; and an uncle.

She was predeceased by brothers Lawrence S. Jr., Robert L. and Ronald L. Guyer; and a sister, Viola L. Brown-Deshong.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard L. Michael officiating. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
