Ruth W. Valentine, 98, of Keymar, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Country Companions Assisted Living in Taneytown.

Born April 17, 1914, in Sykesville, she was the daughter of the late Herbert D. and Millie Bushey Wampler. She was the wife of the late Carroll R. Valentine.

She had worked in food preparation for many years at Taneytown Elementary School, Schottie's in Littlestown, Pa., and the former Taney Inn. She and her husband had operated a farm in Keymar for many years.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Sykesville, and had attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, and Keysville Lutheran Church in Keymar.

Surviving are nephews and nieces Raymond Wampler, of Salisbury, Robert Bushey Wampler, of Ocala, Fla., Ruth Howsden, of Keymar, Edna Harrison, of Sykesville, and Geraldine Wampler, of Westminster; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Wampler, of Sykesville; and many great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Keysville Union Cemetery in Keysville, with Deacon Charles Barnhart officiating.
