Ruthetta Mae Smith, 96, of Manchester, MD, entered into God's eternal care, Saturday, August 2, 2014 at her son's home in Westminster, MD. Born March 3, 1918 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis "Frank" and Maggie (Grogg) Fuhrman. Ruthetta was the loving wife of the late Walter L. Smith who died in 1994. Ruthetta was a member of Black Rock Church of the Brethren, Glenville, PA, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for 25 years. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lebanon #108, Manchester, MD, the Manchester Senior Center, North Carroll Senior Center, AARP of Westminster, and was a PAL Lunch Program Volunteer. Ruthetta retired from the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles in Glen Burnie, MD with over 17 years of service. She loved being with her family and especially being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruthetta is survived by one son, Gerald Smith and wife Oralee of Westminster, MD; two granddaughters, Stacey A. Widener and husband Tony, Amber L. Smith, all of Westminster, MD; three great grandchildren, Camryn S. Widener, Jilienne L. Widener, and Gabriel K. Lee; and one sister Katie Kopp of New Oxford, PA. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Ervin Fuhrman, David Fuhrman, Frank Fuhrman, Jesse Fuhrman, John Fuhrman, Earnest Fuhrman, and one sister, Alverta Lucabaugh. A funeral service to celebrate and remember Ruthetta's life will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, August 8, 2014 at Black Rock Church of the Brethren, 3864 Glenville Road, Glenville, PA with Rev. Earl Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A Viewing and time to share memories with the family will be from 6-8 PM, Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA., as well as from 10 - 11 AM, Friday, August 8, 2014 at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to, Black Rock Church of the Brethren, 3864 Glenville Road, Glenville, PA 17329.
