Samantha Marie Newton, 24, of Reisterstown, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at home.

Born Jan. 4, 1990, in Towson, she was the daughter of Cynthia Biemiller Newton and Richard Alan Newton Jr.

She was a 2008 graduate of Franklin High School and a 2012 graduate of Salisbury State University, where she was a geography major. She was employed as a crew member for three years with Trader Joe's in Pikesville.

She had enjoyed glass blowing and painting; and was an animal lover, especially fond of guinea pigs, cats, dogs and chickens. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to her many fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a brother, Richard Edward Newton, of Denver, Colo.; a boyfriend, Daniel Greenfield; grandfather Richard Alan Newton Sr. and companion Suzanne Beauvais Beyda; aunts and uncles Deborah and David Harriman, of Crozet, Va., Jacqueline and Franklin Lemon, of Salisbury, William and April Newton, of Havre de Grace, and Catherine and Brian Schmidt, of Trappe; and cousins Andrew and Peter Harriman, Brian, Amy, Camden and Erin Lemon, Jenna, Jeffrey and Gunnar Newton, Hannah, Natalie, William and Joshua Schmidt.

She was predeceased by grandparents Nancy Newton, and Mary and Edward Biemiller.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a memorial service, 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Humane Society of Wicomico County, 5130 Citation Drive, Salisbury, MD 21804, where she volunteered during college.
