Samuel L. Warfield, age 90 of Sykesville, died September 29, 2017. Sam was born September 30, 1926 in Maryland. He was the son of the late William and Estella Wheeler Warfield. Sam was a proud Army veteran, serving in WWII and later in Korea. He was honorably discharged attaining the rank of First Sergeant. On May 15, 1947, Sam married Ethel Louise Dorsey of Sykesville. Sam took over the family dairy farm in Sykesville and became a well-respected and successful member of the local community. He was a member of the Springfield Presbyterian Church in Sykesville and served for many years as a Church Elder. He retired from farming in 1985 and enjoyed wintering with Ethel at their "snowbird" home in Zephyrhills, Florida. Married for 66 years, beloved Ethel passed away on January1,2012. Surviving are son Ronald "Buck" Warfield, daughter-in-law Ida Warfield, grandson Jeffrey Warfield and his wife Cheryl, grandson Charles Warfield and his wife Kim, great grandchildren McKenzie Warfield, Samuel Peyton Warfield, Lauren Warfield and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings William Warfield, Jim Warfield, Sadie Woolfe, Hazel Feezer and Robert Warfield. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
