Sharon Elizabeth Hendrickson, 68, of Emmitsburg, Maryland died peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Born July 10, 1947 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William Frederick and Nora Marie (Paul) Smith. She was the wife of Paul W. Hendrickson, to whom she was married for 46 years. Sharon was a substitute teacher and teachers' aide at Mt. Airy Elementary and Middle Schools for many years. In her early years, she enjoyed singing and playing piano. She loved flower gardening and needlepoint, and especially spending time with her dear grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons, Eric Hendrickson and wife Teresa of Taneytown, Adam Hendrickson and wife Stacey of McClellanville, SC, and Nathan Hendrickson and wife Jaime of Union Bridge; sister, Dawn Ecker-Griffin of Westminster; and grandchildren, Morganne, Savannah, Hayleigh, Wyatt, Jeweliana, and Chase. She was predeceased by infant daughter Heidi Lin Hendrickson in 1974. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD with John C. Morrill as funeral celebrant. Interment will follow at Springfield Cemetery in Sykesville. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frederick Memorial Hospital Cancer Center, 46 Thomas Johnson Dr., Suite 200, Frederick, MD, 21702, or to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD, 21702.
