Sheila C. Barbera, age 52 of Eldersburg, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Born September 8, 1964 in Cheverly, MD, she was the daughter of Larry and Georgeann Sheffield Cooke. Sheila was the wife of Paul V. Barbera of Eldersburg, her husband of 30 years. She was a 9-year veteran of the U.S. Army, where she served as an Intelligence Analyst. After leaving the service, Sheila taught within the Carroll County School System for 10 years. Most recently, she worked as an Instructional Systems Designer on various government contracts. Being part of a military family, she had a chance to live in and visit places all around the world and that love of travel continued after her husband's military retirement. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her daughter Ashley and son-in-law Brian, her son Dylan and daughter-in-law Kirsten, sister Gina Cooke, and mother-in-law Colleen Wentland. She was predeceased by her brother Duane Cooke, and by her father-in-law James Wentland. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 7th from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 8th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
