Shirley Johnson Wolfe, age 81, of Union Bridge, passed away Sunday, Feb.5, 2017 at her home. Born Dec. 17, 1935 in Middleburg, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Robert Johnson and Nellie Edna Jenkins Johnson Waddell. She was the wife of James Bush Wolfe, who died Nov. 15, 2016. Mrs. Wolfe was a 1954 graduate of Elmer Wolfe High School and retired after many years of employment. She was a member of the Union Bridge Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. In earlier years she and her husband enjoyed dancing, as well as traveling with her brother's family. She was an avid collector of Maryland memorabilia and also collected hat pins. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts, playing bingo, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are four daughters, Paula May and husband, Ronald of Cavetown, Sharon Green and husband, Earl of Taneytown, Brenda Haines of Statesville, NC, and Donna Roberts of Union Bridge; sisters, Bonnie Stone and husband, Ritchie of Maine, Carole "Peachy" Warner and husband, Jeff of McSherrystown, PA; brother, Paul Johnson and wife, Joann of Union Bridge; many nieces and nephews; and many treasured friends. She was predeceased by several close family members. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. in Haugh's Cemetery, Ladiesburg. Rev. Virgil Cain, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Smithsburg, will officiate.
