Shirley M. Warehime, 76, of Taneytown, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, after an extended illness with cancer.

Born Dec. 25, 1935, in Adams County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Walter Sr. and Naomi Erb Miller. She was the wife of John C. Warehime, her husband of more than 33 years, who died in 1986.

She worked at English American Manufacturing for 35 years prior to retirement. She was a cook and seamstress, and was independent, making repairs around the house by herself. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed spending time with all of her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are daughters Connie Welsh, of Keymar, and Gale Freyman and husband Irvin, of Westminster; granddaughter Dawn Morrell and companion Chris Murphy, of North Carolina; grandson Tony Freyman and fiancee Brittany Norris, of Manchester; a great-grandson, Griffin Turner, of Florida; and a great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Freyman, of Manchester; sisters Nancy Horick and Gloria Kontz, both of Hanover, Pa.; brothers-and sisters-in-law Walter Miller Jr., Larry and Theresa Miller, and Robert and Sandi Miller, all of Westminster; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Roy "Sonny" Miller; sisters Linda Knight and Patricia Crandell; and a son-in-law, Brett Welsh.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Benedict, pastor of Union Bridge Church of the Brethren, officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Eldersburg.
