Shirley Virginia Steger, 79, of Manchester, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at home.

Born Oct. 5, 1934 in Hampstead, she was the daughter of the late John Herman Seipp and Minnie Violia Kelbaugh Seipp. She was the wife of the late Daniel Franklin Steger.

She was a homemaker. Years ago she had worked at the Hampstead Sewing Factory, after which she enjoyed spending time with her family and doing crafts, her favorite hobby.

She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manchester.

Surviving are children Brenda Sue Steger, of Glen Burnie, and Mary Christina Strausbaugh, of Glenville, Pa.; grandchildren Kathy Kern, of Glen Burnie, and Nathan Strausbaugh and Ryan Strausbaugh, both of Glenville; siblings Geraldine Ruby, Eva Thompson, Loretta Seipp, Beatrice Le Monde and Jack Seipp, all of Hampstead; and a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Seipp, of Florida.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Matthew S. Schenning officiating. Interment will be in New Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the , 8219 Town Center Drive, Baltimore, MD 21236; or to the , 2002 Clipper Park Road, Baltimore, MD 21211.
