Sophie Anastasia Bruns, 85, of Manchester, died Monday, May 12, 2014, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born Jan. 1, 1929, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Stanislaus Marhefka and Felixa Tamowska Marhefka. She was the wife of Clarence Charles Bruns Jr., who died March 18, 2002.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are daughter Debora Boilon and husband Michael Sr., of Manchester; grandchildren Michael Boilon Jr., of Manchester, Theresa Kelly and husband Ryan, of Millersville, and James Boilon, of Manchester; siblings Teresa McGlumphy, of South Carolina, Mary Basalyga, of Scranton, Pa., and Walter Marhefka Sr., of Pasadena; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings Anthony and James Marhefka, Laura Dziwulski, Genevieve Marshall, Thelma Kutrik and Veronica Westervelt.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, 2930 Hanover Pike, Manchester, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Roach as celebrant. Interment will be in Lineboro Cemetery in Lineboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
