Stephen Joseph "Joe" Mobley, 70, of Sykesville, died Monday, May 28, 2012, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born Feb. 9, 1942, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Stephen Hall and Margaret Wills Mobley. He was the husband of Anita L. Mobley, of Sykesville.

He had worked as an engineer for Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. He was a member of Faith Family Church in Gamber.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a stepmother, Mae Mobley, of New Windsor; a son, Michael L. Mobley, of Marriottsville; daughters Jennifer Rucci, of Princeton Junction, N.J., Melinda Hirschmann, of Old Hickory, Tenn., and Stephanie Adami, of Mount Airy; a stepson, Brian Green, of Baltimore; stepdaughters Sonia Strawbridge, of Elkridge, and Melanie Smith, of Arkanum, Ohio; a brother, Robert Mobley, of Cape Coral, Fla.; a stepbrother, Brian Mobley, of New Windsor; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Margaret Lawson; and a brother, Richard Mobley.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Faith Family Church, 4150 Sykesville Road, Finksburg, with the Rev. Paul Andrews officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 825 Hammonds Ferry Road, Suite H, Linthicum, MD 21090.
