Sterling Roland Burrier, age 81, of Johnsville, died Thursday, November 10, 2016 at his home. Born April 27, 1935 in Detour, he was the son of the late Clarence C. Burrier Sr. and Edna Houck Burrier. He was the husband of Sylvia Boyer Burrier, his wife of 62 years. Mr. Burrier attended Elmer Wolfe High School, Union Bridge. He lived and operated the home dairy farm in the Detour area from his younger years until 1985, and then he became a mechanic for Ceresville Ford New Holland until the time of his death. He enjoyed camping and fishing. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son, Terrence Wayne Burrier of Detour; daughter, Brenda Beachy and husband, David of Johnsville; grandchildren, John "J.M." Stewart III, Butch Burrier, Kristine Burrier, Davis Crouse, Christopher Beachy, Katelyn Molnar and Shane Beachy; great-grandchildren, Adrianna Stewart and Camryn and Cooper Beachy; sister, Louise Grabill and husband, William of Johnsville; brother, C. Calvin Burrier and wife, Donna of Oakland, MD; sisters-in-law, Helen Burrier of Detour and Carol Getzandanner and husband, Wayne of Graceham; and brothers-in-law, Maurice Boyer of Libertytown and Gordon Brauning of Taneytown. He was predeceased by brothers, infant Clifford Burrier, Paul Burrier, and Norman Burrier and wife, Anna; and sister-in-law, Shirley Burrier. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro on Sunday, November 13 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m.. Rev. Margaret Moon, pastor of Johnsville United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Chapel Cemetery, Libertytown. Memorial contributions may be made to Johnsville United Methodist Church, 11106 Green Valley Rd., Union Bridge, MD 21791.
