Susan Marie Tawes, 54, of Millers, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

Born May 19, 1959, in Glen Burnie, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Patricia Lambert. She was the wife of John Edward Tawes Sr., her husband of 32 years.

Years ago, she worked in quality assurance for the Computer Science Institute. She was a member of the Lineboro volunteer fire company, where she served as the chaplain and was an EMT. She was a member of the Crisis Intervention Team of York County.

In her spare time she enjoyed camping, casinos, the Caribbean, boating and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are son John Edward "Jay" Tawes Jr. and wife Laura; daughter Mindy Lankford and husband Joe; and grandchildren Jacob, Justin, Jeremy, Ethan, Noah and Grace.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of a funeral service, 7 p.m. Saturday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, with the Rev. Sam Chamelin officiating. Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be sent to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 9475 Deereco Road, Deer Park Center, Suite 306, Timonium, MD 21093.
