T. Gordon Fitzhugh, 82, formerly of Sykesville, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

Born in 1931 in Baltimore, and twice married, he was the husband of Darby P. Layton, who died in 1988; and Dorothy L. Cox, who died in 2012.

He served as a sergeant, in Germany, in the United States Army Signal Corps from 1952 until 1955. He worked in the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court as chief deputy and court administrator. Later, he worked at Bank of Glen Burnie in the IT department at the main office.

He also owned an antique shop with his second wife, Dottie, in Westminster. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 213, and the Scottish Rite. He was an avid antique automobile owner and an oil lamp collector. He especially enjoyed being with his family.

Surviving are children Jay Gordon Fitzhugh, Gregg Layton Fitzhugh and Laurie Patricia Fitzhugh; stepchildren Randy Cox, Brian Cox and Stacie Cox-Clark; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 5, and Sunday at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, 1 2nd SW, at Crain Highway, Glen Burnie.

A celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ferndale United Methodist Church, 117 Ferndale Road, Glen Burnie. Interment will be in Glen Haven Memorial Park.
