Thelma Anne "Sue" Stinefelt Doyle, 74, of Finksburg, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Golden Living Center after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.

Born May 12, 1938, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Mabel E. Stinefelt. She was the wife of James Doyle IV, her husband of 54 years.

She was a 1956 graduate of Towson High School and a 1957 graduate of Baltimore Business College. She worked as an executive assistant many years ago at Electronic Communications in Timonium, and Black and Decker in Hampstead.

She most recently was employed as an officer in the family owned businesses Doyle Excavation Company, Doyle Home Builders and Doyle Home Improvement Company. She had also been a licensed real estate agent.

She enjoyed swimming and was a certified lifeguard. She also enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, oil painting, classical music and dancing. She liked all animals and had a collection of cats.

She was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed container and water gardening. She enjoyed working in her back yard rock garden, especially around her fish pond.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter,  Ruth Doyle, of Smyrna, S.C.; son and daughter-in-law Matthew and Breanna Doyle, of South Riding, Va.; grandchildren Caleb Traenkner, Madeleine, John and Abigail Doyle; sisters Doris Scherbarth and husband Richard, of West Hurley, N.Y., and Ruth Hale, of Towson; brothers William Stinefelt and wife Edna May, of Frostburg and Howard Stinefelt and wife Kathleen, of Emmitsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visitation. Services will be private.

Cremation services were handled by Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services in Westminster.
