Mrs. Thelma V. Ecker, 90, of New Windsor, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Golden Living Center, Westminster, after an extended illness. Born December 2, 1924 in Uniontown, she was the daughter of the late Hall M. and Pauline Leakins Martin. She was the wife of Charles D. Ecker who died March 3, 2015. Mrs. Ecker was a member of Edgewood Church of the Brethren, near New Windsor and was a charter member of the auxiliary of the New Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. She was formerly employed as a cafeteria aide at the New Windsor Middle School. Thelma enjoyed playing bingo, outdoor activities and watching baseball. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Conaway and husband Edwin H. of New Windsor; a son, Donald W. Ecker and wife Carol of Littlestown, PA; a sister, Lettie Cartzendafner of Taneytown, 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen Curfman and a brother, Virgil Martin. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, August 2, where a memorial service will be conducted at 7:45 p.m. by members of the New Windsor Fire Co. Auxiliary. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3 at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Uniontown, with Rev. Virgil Cain, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Smithsburg, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary, P.O. Box 247, New Windsor, MD 21776.
