Theodore F. "Ted" Gerwig, 75, of Finksburg, died unexpectedly Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born Aug. 4, 1938, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Mary Margaret Richardson Gerwig. He was the husband of Mary Ellen Dean Gerwig, his wife of 52 years.

He was a veteran of the Navy and served during peace time on the USS Intrepid. He worked as a computer technician with IBM and the Maryland State Police.

He was a member of the VFW, and enjoyed farming.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Brenda Cook and husband Norman, of Manchester, and Linda Moorefield and companion Melvin Crowther, of Hanover, Pa.; grandsons Ben and Alex Cook, and Joshua Moorefield; a brother, Charles H. Gerwig Jr., of Summerland Key, Fla.; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Betty and Don Crigger, of Defiance, Ohio, and Loretta Dean, of Corbin, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of memorial service, 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with the Rev. Stacy Marsh officiating. Interment will be private.
