Thomas Carl Skipper Jr., 78, of Westminster, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Carroll Hospital Center.

Born April 5, 1934, in Elkridge, he was the son of the late Thomas C. Sr. and Josephine Meldrum Skipper. He was the husband of Billie Sue Skipper, his wife of 50 years.

He was an Army veteran and a painter for Montgomery County Public Schools.

He enjoyed crabbing, farming and being a volunteer firefighter for the Winfield fire company.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children and spouses, Pennie and Joseph Staup, of Taneytown; Hank and Patricia Skipper, of Sykesville; Carolyn and Robert Shelton, of New Windsor; and Michael Skipper and DJ Mills-Skipper, both of Westminster; sister Hazel Lock, of Crofton; grandchildren James Skipper, James "Jamie," Caleb, Austin and Patrick Shelton, Holly John, Shawna and Emily Staup, and Tresa Shelton; and friends Robert, Ann, Emily and RJ Niner, of Westminster.

He was predeceased by sisters Edith Skipper and May Barth and father-in-law and mother Lewis and Martha Collins.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dick Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Sykesville.
