Thomas Lorrain "Honey" Cook, age 88, of Union Bridge, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at his home after an extended illness. Born October 7, 1928 in Winfield, he was the son of the late Carroll Eugene and Daisy May Myers Cook. He was the husband of Erma Smith Cook, his wife of 62 years. "Honey" formerly attended Fairview United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed as a tractor-trailer driver, in earlier years with Stem Motor Line of Winfield and then retired from Mitchell Transport of Union Bridge. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He enjoyed playing cards and checkers, working on vehicles and attending sales. "Honey" liked to tell people his initials of TLC meant "tender loving care". In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Leslie Barard and husband Alvon of Oxon Hill; Joanna Smith of Westminster and Alice Smith of Union Bridge; goddaughter, Michelle Billings of Union Bridge; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons; a sister, Ruth Louise Cook Dorsey of Winfield and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Lloyd Byron Cook in 2015; brothers, Roland Leroy and Leon Kelly Cook and brother-in-law, Richard C. Dorsey in April 2017. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 15 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge, with Pastor Darrell Davis, pastor of Uniontown and Middleburg United Methodist Churches, officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Old Liberty Rd., off Rt. 26. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 14 and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday. Online condolences may be shared with the family at
