Mr. Thomas "Bud" Fritz Jr., 86, of Union Bridge, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. Born November 20, 1927 in Carroll County, he was the son of the late Thomas S. Fritz Sr. and Mary Virginia Black Fritz. He was the husband of S. Rosalie "Rose" Boone Fritz who died in 2000. Mr. Fritz was formerly employed with Lehigh Portland Cement Co., Union Bridge, for 36 years, retiring in 1990. He was a social member of V.F.W. Post 8806 of Union Bridge. He enjoyed picnicking with family and friends at "The Meadow", watching John Wayne movies and fireworks, gardening and spending time with his family. In earlier years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and crabbing. Surviving are his fiancée, Shirley V. Graham of Union Bridge; 2 daughters, Wanda Humbert and husband John of Westminster; Virginia Fritz of Paw Paw, WV; son, Thomas E. "Eddie" Fritz and wife Lisa of Glenville, PA; sister, Shirley Lescalleet of State Line, PA and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will also be fondly remembered by Pam Price of Westminster, Tammy Geiman of Hanover, PA, Lisa Pollard of New Oxford, PA, Tollie Strine of Union Bridge and Ruby Reed of Laurel. He was predeceased by a daughter, Ellen Farley in 2006; sister, Mary Shatzer and his fiancee's brother, Charles Strine. The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 6 E. Broadway, Union Bridge Monday, October 13 from 12 noon until time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Richard L. Michael, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, Union Bridge. Interment will be in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
