The Rev. Thomas Lee Plunkert Sr., 63, of Union Bridge, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at home, after a long bout with cancer.

Born Oct. 7, 1950, in Ellicott City, he was the son of the late Warren Plunkert and Agnes Irene Miller Plunkert. He was the husband of Janet Faye Stephens Plunkert, whom he married March 15, 1969.

He was pastor of Louisville Bible Church for 33 years, interrupted with four years of evangelism. He also served as a missionary in Mexico for 10 years, building churches and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

He was also a carpenter and general contractor since 1974, building in much of Maryland. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, woodworking, cooking, canning and making a vegetable garden.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughter-in-law Thomas Lee Plunkert Jr. and Robin Plunkert, of Linthicum; a brother, George Plunkert, of Westminster; a sister, Susie Reitz, of New Windsor; grandsons Evan and Dylan Plunkert; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Matthew Bret Plunkert; a brother, William Plunkert; and a sister, Sandra Lee Daubert.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Louisville Bible Church Cemetery in Finksburg.
