Thomas Stanley Bosley, 78, of Mount Airy, died Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at  Laurel Regional Hospital.

Born Dec. 9, 1934, in Westminster, he was the son of the late Stanley Preston Bosley and Helen Marie Hyde Bosley. He was married to M. Laverne Bosley for 54 years.

He served in the Army as an MP and found his calling in law enforcement. He was a lifelong resident of Carroll County, where he worked as a Maryland State Police officer protecting and serving for 34 years. During this time, he was also a volunteer fireman for the Reese Volunteer Fire Department.

He enjoyed football, baseball, basketball and ping pong, but his favorite past time was golf. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his great-grandson play soccer. He was a lifetime member of the Izaak Walton Gun Club in Mount Airy and the NRA. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and spending time with little friends Gracie and Stella. He missed his late poodle Tooey.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Melody Schell and husband Sam; granddaughters Harmony Mason and Brianna Schell; and great-grandson Caymen Masonm, all of New Windsor; brother and sister-in-law Robert and Frances Bosley, of Union Bridge; life-long friends Teddy Webb and Bob Lach, of Mount Airy; and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was predeceased by his brother James Bosley.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 12704 Wolfsville Road, Smithsburg, with Rev. David Howell officiating. Interment in St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to St. Marks's Lutheran Church.
