Thomas W. Strawsburg, 53, of Gettysburg, Pa., died unexpectedly Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Gettysburg Hospital.

Born Dec. 9, 1959, in Gettysburg, he was the son of the late Edgar Roland Strawsburg. He was the husband of Frances Kay Andrews Strawsburg, his wife of 34 years.

He was employed by Samuel K. Wivell Builders of Emmitsburg for the past 27 years. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg. He enjoyed camping with his family, gardening and collecting John Deere items. He liked spending his Saturdays during the Sprint car race season at Lincoln Speedway and William's Grove watching his favorite drivers.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son Kevin E. Strawsburg and wife Crystal, of Gettysburg; grandchildren Jordan and Rilynn Strawsburg; stepmother Nadine Kuykendall, of Gettysburg; brothers Gordon Strawsburg and significant other Lisa Elicker, of Gardners, Pa., and Chris Strawsburg and wife Tammy, of Biglerville, Pa.; half brother Tony Brown and wife Carey, of Gettysburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by grandparents Francis and Ethel Sharrer, and Harold and Ruth Strawsburg; and a stepbrother, Mark Brown.

Viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg.

Viewing will also be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian burial, 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 45 W. High St., Gettysburg, with the Rev. Bernardo Pistone as celebrant. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg.
