83, of Westminster, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, surrounded by his loving family, at Carroll Hospice Dove House. He was the eldest son of the late Truman L. and Margaret E. Stem. He was married to the late B. Irene Stem for 53 years. He spent most of his life farming and truck driving as he delivered plastic bottles to the Clorox plant in Frederick, MD. He was a member of Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren. His hobbies included restoring antique tractors, attending tractor and steam shows, entertaining his grandchildren, and raising Hereford beef cattle. He was a member of the Kingsdale Antique Tractor Club and was a former board of director for the Maryland Steam Historical Society. His greatest passion was his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by daughters and spouses Barbara and Herb Bollinger of Westminster, Michele "Chellie" and Richard Burnham of Westminster, and Shirley and Steven Bailey of Hampstead; son and spouse Denny and Tammie Stem of Hanover, PA; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers and spouses George and Betty Stem of Littlestown, PA, Harold Stem of Westminster, David and Susan Stem of Thomasville, PA; sister-in-law Betty Stem of Westminster; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by devoted friend Delores Heltibridle. He was predeceased by step father Monroe T. Hyde and by brother Charles E. Stem. The family will receive friends today, Thursday, April 16 from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jodie Hendricks officiating. Interment will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery, Westminster. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157 in honor of him.
