Velma Pearl Smith Hart, 92, of Carroll Lutheran Village, formerly of Randallstown, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the Dove House in Westminster.

Born April 16, 1920, in Wheatley, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Louis Smith and late Pearl Gardner Smith. She was the spouse of the late Rev. Jesse Ivan Hart.

She was a preschool teacher for years and enjoyed gardening, baking and visiting people at Carroll Lutheran Village.

Surviving are daughters Velma Josephine and husband Richard Wray, of Reisterstown; and Edna Kay and husband Doug Bartholomew, of Frederick; grandchildren Robert Wray, of Baltimore; and Andrew, Paul and Daniel Bartholomew, all of Frederick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by sisters Lillian Barnes and Dorothy Wainscott.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 9 at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road in Winfield, and 12 to 2 p.m. Dec. 10 at Krug Chapel of Carroll Lutheran Village at 300 St. Luke Circle in in Westminster.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 10 at Krug Chapel of Carroll Lutheran Village. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 13 in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157; Westminster Baptist Church Building Fund, 354 Crest Lane, Westminster, MD 21157; or Carroll Lutheran Village Chapel Fund.
