Victor Henry Long Jr. age 84 of Melbourne Beach, FL, formerly of Westminster, MD and Columbia, MD died Sunday, March 15th at his daughter's home and has rejoined his wife in a continuation of their travels and camping adventures. His love of mountain and seashore was imparted on their five children and many grandchildren. After graduating high school at Mt. Saint Joseph, he proudly served his country during the Korean War on the US Navy vessels USS Kleinsmith, USS Hank, USS O'Hare, and USS Laning. We salute you son, brother, husband, dad, uncle, granddad, great granddad, and friend. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was the son of the late Dr. Victor and Elizabeth Long. He was the husband of Evelyn Long, who predeceased him in 2002. He is survived by Daughters Madonna Jacob and her husband Arthur of Orlando, FL, Linda Brandt and her husband Carl of Westminster, MD, Son John Long and his wife Karen of Crystal Lake, IL, Daughters Theresa Kendig and her husband Greg of Taneytown, MD, Mary Souder and her husband Kirk of Melbourne Beach, FL, Sister Mary Elizabeth Bragg of Baltimore, MD, Brother Frank Long and wife Fran of Milton, DE. Fourteen Grandchildren, One Great Granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews . He was preceded in death by his sister Paula Hoffman. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Pritts Funeral Home, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Officiating will be Fr. Jamie Garcia. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or Vitas Healthcare, 4450 West Eau Gallie Blvd., Suite 250, Melbourne, FL 32934.
