Viola L. Caudill, 89, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Reisterstown, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, Ariz.

Born April 30, 1924, in Boring, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian Viola Cowan. She was the wife of the late Edward F. Swan Sr. and Teddy Caudill.

She worked as a machine operator with Black & Decker.

She enjoyed cooking and was an avid Ravens fan and a great bingo player.

Surviving are daughters Charlotte L. Swan, of McSherrystown, Pa., and Sharon L. Hopkins, of Abbottstown, Pa.; sons Edward F. Swan Jr., of Reisterstown, Gordon W. Swan, of West Virginia, Howard L. Swan, of Phoenix, and Gary E. Swan, of Reisterstown; a stepson, Philip J. Ratay, of Phoenix; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Timothy Feaser officiating. Interment will be Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
