Viola Mae "Dudy" Klare, 91, of Hampstead, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster.

Born April 26, 1921, in Eddystone, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John Isaac Kercherville and Viola May Rooney Kercherville. She was the wife of Howard William Klare, who died Dec. 4, 1990.

She, her husband and son owned and operated the Hampstead Hardware (Wooden Indian) in Hampstead for many years. She enjoyed giving out candy at their hardware store.

Surviving are a son, Howard B. Klare, of Hampstead; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Lewis, of Hampstead; a granddaughter, Cara Lewis, of Baltimore; friends Eddie and Gail Crowl, of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by sisters Helen Duncan and Ruth Brookhart.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service, 11 a.m. Monday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester. Interment will be in Hampstead Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
