Betty Irene Ledford Waite Tighe, 79, was born June 2, 1938 and passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 in Lake Placid, Florida with her daughter, Cathy Darnell and husband Walter by her side. Betty was born to Oscar and Aletha Ledford of Mt. Airy, Maryland. She was employed at Springfield State Hospital in Sykesville, Maryland as an RN for 42 years. Betty was the ninth of seventeen children. She is predeceased by her parents, Oscar and Aletha Ledford, husband Robert Tighe, a grandson Christopher Grady and siblings, Audrey Graybeal, Lillian Thompson, James Ledford, Charles Ledford, Hershel Ledford, Helen Johnson, Joseph Ledford, Esther Ledford, Earl Ledford, Ruby Johnson and Robert Ledford. Betty is survived by her children, Cathy Waite Darnell and husband Walter of Lake Placid, Florida, Donald Waite and wife Christine of Westminster, Maryland, Donna Waite Grady of Randallstown, Maryland and Gregory Waite and wife Laura of Greenville, Texas. Six Grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Siblings Grace Durham of Westminster, Maryland, David Ledford of Smithsburg, Maryland, Mark Ledford and wife Christine of Mt. Airy, Maryland and Margaret Shepley of Winchester, Virginia, Paul Ledford of Westminster, Maryland and numerous nieces and nephews. Private services was held in Lake Placid, Florida with her daughter Cathy Waite Darnell and husband Walter. A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date to be determined.
