Walter F. Leader, 89, of Owings Mills, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at home.

Born Oct. 25, 1923, in Maryland, he was the son of the late Orville and Minnie Wertz Leader. He was the husband of Pearl Evelyn "Boots" Leader, his wife of 67 years, who died in 2012.

He served with the Marines in World War II. He retired as vice president of Beverage Capital.

He was a member of VFW Post 521 in Owings Mills.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Dan Shipp; granddaughters Amy Pollard and husband Ashley, and Angela Shipp; great-grandchildren Ricky Calhoun, Jordon Cromer and Cody and Camdyn Pollard; a sister-in-law, Margaret Williams; and a brother-in-law, Joe Bidinger.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road,  Owings Mills.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Louis Piel officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
