Wilbur Erle Linthicum, 83, of Reisterstown, died Thursday November 27, 2014 at his home. Born April 19, 1931 in Reisterstown, he was the son of the late Erle J. and Mable Blizzard Linthicum. He was the husband of Edith C. Stephan Linthicum, his wife of 63 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a long time auto mechanic and retired from Liberty Discount. He was a member of Maryland Steam Historical Society, the Glyndon Ladies Auxiliary and the North Carroll Senior Center. He had been a member of Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school, and was most recently a member of St. John's (Leister's) Lutheran Church. He started a band called Country Diamonds and also played with Nighthawks and Free Wheeling. He collected and restored antique gas engines and enjoyed train gardens. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his son and daughter-in-law, Benny and Kathy Linthicum of Reisterstown; daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Norman Wilson and Donna and R. Wayne Ruby, all of Manchester; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kristin Dubsky officiating. Interment will be in St. John's (Leister's) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Thank Offering Fund at St. John's (Leister's) Lutheran Church, 827 Leister's Church Road, Westminster, MD 21157.
