William Dennis Hoffman, 67, of Upperco, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Lorien Nursing Home in Taneytown.

Born Sept. 9, 1944, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Dennis and Adelaide Green Hoffman. He was the husband of Dinah L. Cunningham Hoffman, his wife of 44 years.

He had been in the Army National Guard in Maryland and was a retail grocery manager for Shoppers Food Warehouse.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose. He enjoyed golfing, the beach and spending time with his family. He was an avid gardener.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters and sons-in-law Aimee C. and Chris Taylor, of Hampstead, and Megan A. and Mervin Gooch, of Owings Mills; granddaughters Olivia Gooch, of Owings Mills, and Lauren Taylor, of Hampstead; and grandsons Corbin Gooch, of Owings Mills, and Zachary Taylor, of Hampstead.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St., Hampstead.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. George Tuttle officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
