William Dennis "Bill" Harmon, Jr., 93, of Finksburg, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his home. Born on July 23, 1923 in Garrison, MD he was the son of the late William Dennis, Sr. and Luna Pearl Michael Harmon. He was the husband of Sue Margaret (Tunney) Harmon, his wife of 66 years. Bill was a graduate of Franklin High School in 1943. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of the Baltimore County Fire Department. He spent his early working career doing farming as well as working on the Pennsylvania Railroad, until his employment at the Baltimore County Fire Department, where he worked as a arson investigator, until his retirement in 1986. Bill was an avid golfer, a sport he loved since the age of 6. Surviving in addition to his wife are children Susan Miller and husband Brad of Cape May, NJ, William Dennis Harmon, III of Baltimore, Kim Harmon of Finksburg, and Katherine Spiegel and husband Ed of Ellicott City; grandchildren Brett Miller (Rachel), Elizabeth Miller, William Harmon IV, Andrew Spiegel, and Rebecca Spiegel; great-grandchildren Ty and Adriana Miller; brother and sister-in-law Penny and Michael Tunney; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Ellen Shipley and Donald Harmon The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 12:00 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster, with Fire Dept. Chaplain Wayne Cofiell officiating. Interment with military honors will be held on January 25th, at 10:45 a.m. at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to Carroll Hospice, 291 Stoner Ave., Westminster MD 21157 or to an organization of ones choice.
