William F. "Bill" Hamilton, 80, of Keymar, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.

Born June 27, 1932, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William and Celia Hamilton. He was the husband of Shirley Regina Hamilton, his wife of 58 years.

He was raised in Baltimore and attended Edison High School.In his youth, he was a racing pigeon-flyer and drummer in the Hamilton Drum & Bugle Corps, and he continued to enjoy these interests in some form throughout his life.

He served his country in the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1955, achieving rank of sergeant first-class, and never shrank from giving thanks to fellow servicemen and women for their sacrifices. He was a tool-and-die-maker for many years before retiring to a life of farming in Keymar.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was known to take delight in the successes and victories of those who worked hard to fulfill their dreams and aspirations.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son and daughters-in-law William Hamilton and Zoraida Alvarez and Scott Hamilton and Karen McGuire; grandchildren, Michael, Jaylyn, Amanda, Matthew, Keith, and Timmy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Lindsay Paul.

Friends may call from noon until the time of memorial service, 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Fletcher Funeral & Cremation Services, 254 E. Main St., Westminster.
