William Joseph Wright, 86, of Westminster, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.

Born April 27, 1927, in New York City, N.Y., he was the son of the late William G. and Viola Hedden Wright. He was the husband of Patricia Anne Devereux Wright, his wife of 62 years.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy as a medic. He received his education at Pace University and his doctorate in business psychology at Cambridge International University.

He was a resident of Aberdeen, N.J., before moving to Maryland in 2003. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he became a Grand Knight. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and golfer.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Patricia Anne Smith and husband Brian, of New Windsor, Kevin Joseph Wright and wife Madeline, of Middletown, N.J., and Karen Lynn Vivian and husband Stephen, of Holmdel, N.J.; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Wright, of Holmdel; grandchildren William J. Wright, Patricia Anne Anderson and husband Nathan, Brian A. Smith and wife Katie, Christina Wright, Jacqueline Wright, Colin Wright, Amanda Wright, Connor J. Wright, Lynsey Vivian and Alex Vivian; great-grandchildren Jonathan Smith, Matthew Anderson, Brian J. Smith, Emily Anderson, Leah Smith, Laura Anderson and Owen Anderson.

He was predeceased by a son, William G. Wright.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Westminster.
