William K. Doney, 83, of Boiling Springs, Pa., died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center, of a heart attack.

Born April 14, 1930, in Weatherly, Pa., he was the son of the late William and Elsie Bachman Doney. He was the husband of Pam Doney, his wife of 60 years.

He served as an Air Force staff sergeant in the Korean Conflict. He was a 1956 graduate of Susquehanna University. While there, he was class president, president of the Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity, president of the Student Christian Association and a 1956 member of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball. He played in the Air Force for four years, for his high school team in Weatherly and at Susquehanna University.

He retired from Mobil Oil after 33 years. He was a member of Rotary International while living in Pennsylvania. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and dogs. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Keith Doney, of Boiling Springs; daughter Kim Eckenrode and husband Mike, of Westminster; a grandson, Matthew William Eckenrode, of Westminster; a granddaughter, Sarah Fullerton and husband Andrew, of Pasadena, Md.; a great-granddaughter, Natalie; brothers Bruce Doney and wife Eva, of Maryland, and Chris Doney, of California; and a sister, Audrey Lipes, of Virginia.

He was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Faust; and a brother, Carl Doney.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of a  memorial service, 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Louther St., Carlisle, Pa., with the Rev. Lisa Leber officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 21 S. Bedford St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
