William Severious Lee Grace Jr., 88, of New Windsor, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House.

Born Oct. 30, 1924, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William S.L. Grace Sr. and Matilda A. Redtmann Grace. Twice married, he was the husband of Frances Berry Grace, who died in 1993; and of Regina Boyd-Grace, his wife of 17 years.

He served in the Army during World War II, stationed in Italy and was discharged as a sergeant. He was the owner of an auto parts resale agency, working as a manufacturer's representative, retiring in 1995.

He was very active in the United Methodist Church in Dundalk, Epworth, New Windsor and Taylorsville, previously serving as a lay speaker, Sunday school teacher and being very involved with the youth groups, taking them on nursing home visits. He was currently a member of Taylorsville United Methodist Church. In earlier years, he enjoyed teaching many people how to drive and played baseball as a pitcher until the age of 32. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan, and he enjoyed playing golf and cards and eating out.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Sharon Kachur and husband Gregory, of Belair, and Sondra Hennart and husband Jean Francois Hennart, of The Netherlands; a son, Mark J. Grace, of Baltimore; step-daughter Sue Ellen Jenkins and husband David, of Annapolis; step-son Timothy Boyd and wife Mary Catherine, of Littlestown, Pa.; grandchildren Sarah Grace Givler, Andrew Kachur, Sarah Russ, Jonathan Jenkins, and Nicole Boyd; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Russ; and siblings Erma R. Brouse, of Dundalk, Charles G. Grace, of Joppa, and Marjorie M. Greene, of New Windsor.

He was predeceased by an infant son, William Grace; a son, Donald Grace, who died in 1991; and a brother, Herbert R. Grace Sr.

A memorial service will be held at Taylorsville United Methodist Church at a later date, with the Rev. Sarah Dorrance, his pastor, officiating. Inurnment in Pipe Creek Cemetery, near Linwood, will also be at a later date.
