William Wesley Cole, 88, of Upperco died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.

Born July 20, 1925, in Mount Washington, he was the son of the late Amos Wesley Cole and Nina Clifta Howard Cole. He was the husband of Ruth Virginia Tawney Cole, his wife of 50 years.

He was a veteran of the Navy and a self-employed tile contractor.

He was a life member of the American Legion, Post No. 116 and was past district commander, where he served on the Department Executor Committee for 30 years. He served on the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery Committee for many years.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Dennis William Cole, of Upperco; a granddaughter, Bethany Lynn Cole, of Minnesota; and siblings Betty A. Cooper and Dorothy Ruth Cook, both of Abington.

He was predeceased by siblings Charles Clifton Cole, Cornelius Cole, Robert Kemp Cole and Laura Bauerlein.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills.
