Winifred "Jean" Stedding, 86, of Westminster, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Northwest Hospital.

Born Oct. 28, 1926, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Louis Sr. and Wilhelmina Reimschneider Eckhart, and stepdaughter of the late Thelma Eckhart. She was the wife of Richard M. Stedding Sr., her husband of 62 years, who died Aug. 8.

She was a switchboard operator with C&P Telephone Company and Montgomery Ward. She spent her winters in Florida, where she volunteered her time at Cape Coral Memorial Hospital, and her summers in Maryland. She enjoyed time with her family and traveling.

Surviving are children Richard M. Stedding Jr., of Owings Mills, and Jeffrey Wayne Stedding and Donna Jean Scrivner, both of Westminster; brothers Louis "Bud" Eckhart Jr. and Albert "Boots" Eckhart, both of Florida; a sister, Elizabeth Chalk, of Jarrettsville; a stepsister, Jerry Bonner, of Reisterstown; grandchildren Caitlin, Justin, Ryan, John, Cody, Ashley, Brittany and Taylor; a great-grandson, Brooks; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dickey Memorial Presbyterian Church, 5112 Wetheredsville Road, Baltimore, with the Rev. Floyd Churn officiating. She will be interred beside her husband at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
