Robert D. "Bob" Sheene Sr. passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at his home in Casey County. He was 73. Born Aug. 6, 1941 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Robert D. and Iva Dean Bradshaw Sheene. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a founding member of the Yosemite Baptist Church. "Bob" was a retired corrections officer at Northpoint and a former maintenance worker at Ashland Oil. He was a 50-year member of the Rocky Ford Masonic Lodge #765. He loved to fish, travel, and camp. He enjoyed woodworking and was a carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Billy Jean Lester Sheene, whom he married Feb. 20, 1965; three sons, James K. Sheene of Nicholasville, Robert D. (and Sheila) Sheene Jr. of Liberty, and Eddie Crew of Liberty; a daughter, Jennifer Lee (and Richard) Overstreet of Liberty; 14 grandchildren, Josh, Allison, Garrick, Katie, Trent, Nick, Abigail, Jackson Robert, Vincent, Simon, Kevin, Jeremy, Amanda, and Shane; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Sophie; a brother, Marcus Benny (and Lorene) Sheene of Middleburg; and two sisters, Janice Ann (and Gary) DeBord of Middletown, Ohio and Nancy (and Val) Randolph of Richmond. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Sheene. A celebration of life service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Hill officiating. Military honors will follow after service. Visitation is Saturday, Oct. 18 at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials for Mr. Robert D. Sheene can be given to the Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Arrangements are entrusted to McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with guestbook available online at www.mckinneybrown.com.

Bobby was an original. His grand children have nothing but great memories of him. Even though they didn't see him as much as they would have liked he will be greatly missed by them.
