Allen J. Reid of Russell Springs passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. He was 78.
Born Dec. 20, 1936, in Madison Co., Ill., he was a son of the late Cecil and Josephine Bontempo Reid.
He was a retired self-employed salesman and a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the 101st Airborne. Allen was a former fishing guide at Lake Cumberland and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his dear wife, whom he married on Sept. 10, 1985, Phyllis Terry Reid; two sons, Allen (Anita) Reid of Houston, Texas and Eric (Tammy) Reid of Lexington; three grandchildren, Derek, Rachel, and Trey; two sisters, Sandy Vincent and Dawn Angela, both of California; father-in-law, Otis Terry of Dunnville; three brothers-in-law, Phillip Terry of Cincinnati, Danny (Anna) Terry and Dwight (Susan) Terry, both of Russell Springs; a sister-in-law, Shirley Simpson of Dunnville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.
Cremation rites have been honored by McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony held at a later date in June.
