Anna Lou Allen Flannery of Monroe, Ohio peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton with loved ones surrounding her. She was 81. Born Sept. 29, 1931, in Liberty, she was the only child of James Booker Allen and Flora Barger Allen. She graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1953 in Elementary Education and was a Kentucky Colonel. Anna Lou was a well-loved fourth-grade teacher of many years at Amanda Elementary in Middletown, Ohio. Her activities included The Emmaus Walk, United Methodist Women, Share Group, Prosser #367 O.E.A., fishing, boating at Green River Lake, and square dancing. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and loyal friend to all that knew her. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Darsie F. Flannery; sons David (and Marsha) of Kettering, Ohio and Marc (and Brenda), of Lebanon, Ohio; her dear grandchildren, Josh, Caitlin, Kyle, and Casey; and precious great-grandchildren, Bella and Liam.
