Emma Jean Cochran, 80, of Liberty, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.

She was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Hustonville, a daughter of the late Richard and Verdie Taylor Montgomery.

Emma Jean was a former cook for the Casey County Board of Education, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Cochran and Stacie Cochran, both of Liberty; three sons, Philip and (Tammy) Cochran, Harold and (Polly) Cochran and Steven Cochran, all of Liberty; nine grandchildren, Jolene Blevins, Michael Cochran, Maggie Cochran, Andrea Nelson, Olivia Vaught, Robbie Beebe, Hannah Cochran, Rachel Hines and Leah Cochran; two stepgrandchildren, Sarah Souders and Evan Souders; nine great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Melissa Hicks.

Preceding her in death besides her parents were her first spouse, Wilbur Cochran; second spouse, J.B. Hamilton; five brothers, Roscoe, Oatley, Omer, Vernon and Hubert Montgomery; and two sisters, Chelsie Thompson and Eula Montgomery.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Friday, April 14, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel in Liberty with Brother Phillip Patton and Leon Wesley officiating. Burial follows in Glenwood Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 13 and continues at 8 a.m. Friday the funeral home chapel.
