Evelyn Lee, 90, of Liberty, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at Casey County Hospital.

Born Jan. 18, 1926, in Russell County, she was the daughter of the late the Rev. Otha Lee Popplewell and Belva Dunbar Popplewell.

She was a homemaker and a member of Shady Grove Separate Baptist Church, where she played the piano and guitar. Evelyn was very independent, she enjoyed yardwork and being with her family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Mike Lee of Liberty; a daughter, Pat (P.D.) Depp of Dunnville; a sister, Dinah Thomas Hurt of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Gina Smith, Chad Lee and Jenny Brown; six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Jean Popplewell and Janice Popplewell; and a special daughter-in-law, Linda Lee.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Marion Lee, who passed away Feb. 2, 1998; four brothers, Jack Popplewell, James Elmo "Mose" Popplewell, Roger Popplewell and Otto Vernon "Red" Popplewell; and a sister, Ninah Dunbar.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home in Liberty with Brother Danny Bailey officiating. Burial follows in Shady Grove Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Tuesday until time of funeral service.

Pallbearers are Archie Adams, Alan Sparr, Lee Murphy, Craig Brown, Kevin Smith and Chad Lee.
