Gerald Sheldon Gilpin of Lexington died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012. He was 80. He was the son of the late Clyde and Mattie Gilpin and was a member of Brookside Baptist Church in Nicholasville. He was also a retired district manager of vocational rehabilitation for the state of Kentucky. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ella Daniel Gilpin; two sons, Gerald L. (and Gail) Gilpin of Lawrenceburg and William "Bill" P. (and Lisa) Gilpin of Lexington; two daughters, Barbara G. Mayfield of Lexington and Carol (and Jim) Turner-Lodmell of Versailles; a brother, William T. Gilpin of Liberty; a sister, Emogene (and George) Brummitt of Plant City, Fla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Oct. 28 at Milwardâ€"Southland with burial in the Trace Fork Cemetery in Casey County. Contributions are suggested to the Brookside Baptist Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
